We’re proud to announce the start of our first international project.
SFI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Southbay Civil Engineering Ltd, have been awarded a project to design and construct a replacement causeway.
The 240m causeway is used to access a large pontoon barge.
Located within the capital city of Stanley, the new structure will accommodate larger vehicles, and is part of an investment programme to support increased offshore operations for the next 30 years.
The structure will consist of an inner rock core and outer rock armour causeway, along with a new heavy steel ramp connecting to the floating barge.
To ensure efficiency in this remote location, specialist plant and equipment has been mobilised directly from the Port of Tyne, supported by the use of local labour and materials.
Managing Director, Paul Stephenson explained: “To have been awarded this prestigious contract demonstrates our technical and logistical capability to deliver large projects on an international scale. Our success was made possible due to the development of a simplified design and low risk construction method based on our extensive knowledge as a specialist marine civil engineering contractor.”
