We are pleased to announce that our Noth Berwick Harbour Wall project has now been completed.
The project, delivered on behalf of East Lothian Council, was undertaken in a phased approach to maximize the use of recovered materials, efficiency, reduce costs and minimize disruption to local residents.
Phase 2 involved reinstating the upper section of harbour wall, deck replacement, and reconstruction of the parapet wall.
This involved completing a series of concrete pours, utilising a 56-meter-long pump stretching the width of the harbour, to place 200 cubic meters of concrete for the new parapet wall.
The structure has been meticulously restored to preserve the heritage of the Grade B listed structure.
This has involved reusing existing materials.
These careful restoration efforts will help maintain the harbour wall’s historical significance whilst reinforcing its durability for future generations.
Phase 1 of the project focused on the reconstruction of the lower section of the harbour wall, the reinstatement of the deck, and the removal of temporary sea defences.
These measures were vital after the emergency repairs necessitated by the damage caused by Storm Babet.
We are thrilled to see this iconic North Berwick landmark restored and fortified for years to come.
The Harbour Wall, which has stood for centuries, will continue to be a cherished part of the local community and an essential part of the town’s maritime heritage.
